    • any specific things your advisor is looking for (particular structure, balance of citations between key and emerging scholars/issues, breadth vs. depth in citations, literature review vs. your own voice, etc.)?
    • what purposes does your advisor see in the comprehensive exam process and responses for your program? In other words, what does your advisor expect you to gain from this process?
    • what, in her/his experience makes a good response and why? What kinds of issues or approaches can be problematic and why?
    • what timeline or other advice does your advisor suggest?
    • anything else you learned that will help you successfully complete your comprehensive exams?
